UK residents struggle as massive winter storm floods hundreds of homes
Second major winter storm hits England and Wales causing widespread flooding and transport chaos. Heavy rain and powerful winds force hundreds of people to protect their properties from rising waters
British weather turned harsh as storm-force winds and non-stop rain hit England and Wales last weekend (making life hard for many local home-owners). The weather system – named Storm Bert by weather experts – brought serious problems to many regions
Rain-soaked areas got hit with about 5 inches of water; while wind-speeds reached 80 miles-per-hour: this mix created a real mess for towns and villages. Many roads turned into small rivers and house-owners had to deal with water getting into their homes
Transport systems got hit hard too‚ with train companies stopping many routes due to flooded tracks. More than 180 flood-warning signs stayed active on monday morning; which meant danger wasnt over yet. Rivers in many places couldnt handle all the water – making them overflow onto nearby streets and fields
