Abia State University Graduates 3,758 Students, 19 Bag First Class Honour

Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, graduated 3,757 students as 19 bag first class honour.

Miss Oluomachi Agbazuere, emerged the overall best graduating student with cumulative grade point average of 4.75, clinching her father’s award of N500, 0000 for the Best Graduating Student.

Her father, Professor A.C.B Agbazuere was the former Chief of Staff and Information Commissioner to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

She thanks God and appreciates her lecturers and family for their support.

1,160 graduands bag second upper class, 2,004 got second class lower, 110 with third class and three with pass.

For post graduate, 138 conferred with masters, 77 PhD and 77 Post-graduate diploma.

Professor Ogwo E. Ogwo, the former vice-chancellor of the university, was conferred with Professor Emeritus.

Governor Wike of Rivers State was honored with the Doctor of Public Admission, while legal luminary, Mike Ozokohme, was conferred with Doctor of Law.

Other three eminent Nigerians were conferred with Doctor of Philosophy.

Professor Onyemachi Ogbolu, the Vice-Chancellor, commended the graduands and urged them to pursue excellence as well be good ambassadors of the university.

He narrated the key achievements of the varsity and step taken for the medical college to be re-accredited.

Other prominent persons the Minister of Education and the Governor of Abia State were heavily represented at the occasion.
