The Upper West Awards for 2024 was successfully launched at Radio Waa. The event took place on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, between 12pm and 3pm, after much anticipation. It was attended by esteemed figures in the entertainment industry, including musicians, their management teams, and media personnel who were invited.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Miss Heeya, followed by an enlightening message from Mr. Ibrahim Muniru, the chairman of the event and manager of Radio Mak. In his speech, Mr. Muniru highlighted important points, including the introduction of three new award categories and emphasized the aim of promoting the image of Upper West.
They announced 31 categories for this year’s edition with year under review being 25th September,2022 to 30th September 2023.
Miss Paulina, the representative from MUSIGA, also gave a speech discussing the role of MUSIGA in the region and urging musicians to make the most of the opportunities provided by the award scheme.
Other members of the organizing team, such as Mr. Abdul Ganiu and Miss Asmaa, explained the different award categories and clarified the terms and conditions. The launch was further elevated by exceptional performances from Harmless Vid, the winner of Best Rapper of the Year in the 2023 edition, and a rising artist known as CD Daddy.
The Q&A segment involved active participation from callers, who raised a variety of questions that were addressed by the organizers. The launch concluded with a message from the representatives of the headline sponsor, Jwango Energy Drink, who encouraged musicians to continue creating high-quality content and pledged ongoing support to the scheme and the region, as long as peace and unity prevail in the industry.
