Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, has received congratulations from the Central Region Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on his appointment as the new minority leader in Parliament.
The party felt that Dr. Forson’s promotion provided a suitable illustration of his assiduity and dedication to the party’s goals in Parliament and Ghana in general.
The party chose Dr. Forson, the ranking member of the finance committee, to succeed Haruna Iddrisu, the current minority leader.
In accordance with a letter dated January 23 and signed by the party’s general secretary, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and addressed to speaker of the house Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
Dr. James Klutse Avedzi has been replaced as the deputy minority leader by the Ellembele MP, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah.
The party also appointed Mr. Kwame Agbodza, the MP for Adaklu, to serve as the Minority Whip in lieu of Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka.
Ahmed Ibrahim, the current First Deputy Minority Whip and MP for Banda, as well as Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, the Second Deputy Whip and MP for Ada, were both retained by the party’s leadership.
In response to the changes in the minority in Parliament, the NDC’s regional secretary, Mr. Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, issued a statement that was copied to the Ghana News Agency and expressed confidence in Dr. Forson’s intellect and professionalism to guide the party’s operations in preparation for victory in the 2024 election.

Nonetheless, the statement acknowledged the significant contributions of Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the immediate past Minority Leader, and his team to deepening Ghana’s democratic gains.
The statement wished them well in any future endeavours and appealed to them to offer their unalloyed support to the new leadership to make the party’s quest to win the 2024 polls a reality.
