Asante Kotoko held in Tamale as Chelsea, Medeama and Samartex return to winning ways in the league

Reigning champions Asante Kotoko were held to a draw at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in today’s action in the betPawa Premier League as they shared the spoils with Tamale City FC.

There were wins for Berekum Chelsea, Medeama SC and FC Samartex 1996 in the midweek Matchday 12 games with Legon Cities and Dreams FC drawing goalless in the other game played today.

Asante Kotoko were looking for their first win up north in two seasons, but they could not breakdown a stubborn Tamale City side despite taking the lead late on as the game ended 1-1 in the Northern region.

Asante Kotoko has now drawn their last three matches and will lose grounds on the table to Aduana FC who can extend their lead at the top if they beat Kotoku Royals on Thursday at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

Tamale City remain in the relegation zone with this result, and on the balance of play in this encounter, they were good value to earn a point.

Medeama SC returned to winning ways after their heavy defeat to Dreams FC last Sunday as they won 2-0 at home to Nsoatreman FC at Tarkwa.

The Yellow and Mauves have jumped on the seventh position with 17 points, with Nsoatreman FC a point and a position behind them on the table.

Berekum Chelsea won for the first time in four league matches with a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Karela United at the Golden City Park.

The three points gained, moves them to 10th on the table with 16 points, dropping Karela United into the relegation zone.

FC Samartex scored a late winner to record a 1-0 home win over Bechem United at Samreboi to move out of the relegation zone into the 13th position with the same number of points with United in sixth position with 17 points.

Legon Cities and Dreams FC played out an entertaining goalless stalemate at the Accra Sports Stadium. Cities are ninth with 16 points with Dreams FC 11th also with 16 points.

The midweek thrills will continue on Thursday with four games to close the Matchday 12 fixtures.
