“Brighton Star Will Make a Lot of Difference For The Black Stars”

Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo had a squad boost when Brighton and Holve Albion defender, Tariq Lamptey switched allegiance from England to play for the Black Stars.

Lamptey, 21, was among a few players announced by the Ghana FA President, Kurt Okraku to have switched nationality to play for Ghana.

Experienced BBC Sports journalist, John Bennett in an interview with Radio Gold TalkSport, believes the diminutive right-back will be a good addition to the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“I can’t wait to see him [Tariq Lamptey] in the Black Stars shirt ahead of the [FIFA] World Cup.

“I think he can really make a difference down the right hand side for Ghana.” John Bennett told Gold TalkSport.

Lamptey was born in England to Ghanaian parents. He has been a youth international for England, having represented the Young Lions from U18 to U21 level.

He has Andy Yiadom of Reading, Denis Odoi of Club Brugge to contend with at Black Stars right back should he be named in the World Cup squad.
