The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Church in Cape Coast, Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle has barred the Rev. Father Robert A. K. Oduro from holding himself out as a Catholic priest after the latter refused to heed a transfer directive.

In a letter dated June 3, 2022, the Archbishop Palmer-Buckle noted that Rev. Fr. Oduro was to have proceeded on a transfer from St. Paul Parish, Assin Jakai, to the Archdiocesan Secretariat since Jan. 1, 2022, but had refused, even upon several invitations and visitations.

According to the latter, Rev. Fr. Oduro had established and managed a supposed prayer camp on his own, and call-ups by the Archbishop for further discussions and discernment on Rev. Fr. Oduro’s new ministry fell on deaf ears.

“I recall my personal visit on April 24, 2022 and that of my official delegation to you at your ‘Prayer Camp’, inviting you for further discussion and discernment on your ministry as a validly ordained Minister of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church and member of this Presbyterium. “You have, however, persisted in your obstinacy and refusal to respond to any call extended to you for a dialogue on the matter,” the letter stated.

Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle also noted that Rev. Fr Oduro can no longer hold himself as a Catholic Priest till the suspension is reversed, calling on the Priests, Religious, the Laity of the Archdiocese of Capecoast and the public to regard him as such.
