Film Producers’ Association of Ghana Apologize To Ghanaians Over Yaw Dabo’s “Lazy People Watch Up To An Hour” Comment

Yaw Dabo

The Film Producers’ Association of Ghana (FIPAG) apologize unreservedly to Ghanaians for the “lazy ass” comment made by actor Yaw Dabo.

The Ghanaian movie actor said that anyone who watches a movie for even 1 hour a day is a lazy person.

The actor who doubles as a football administrator made what is described as an ill statement in an interview with Sports journalist Saddick Adams.

“Where the world is going now, everything is about money. So anyone who will sit for an hour to watch a movie is a lazy person,” he told Saddick Adams in the interview.

The actor received a lot of backlash from Ghanaian society. He was heavily dragged helter-skelter by cyber citizens on social media platforms. According to a portion of the movie fans, his comment has the possibility of stopping people from watching their films considering his status as one of the famous actors in the film fraternity.

Reacting to the comment, the Film Producers’ Association of Ghana (FIPAG) apologized to Ghanaians. This was contained in a press statement signed by the President of FIPAG, James Aboagye. The association has described Yaw’s comment as “very unsavory, offensive and insult[ing].”

They say “such a behavior or attitude is an affront to the film industry and should not be entertained and supported by any well-mannered person.”
