‘Ghana No Go Pass Group Stage’ – Reactions From Nigerians After Ghana Lost 3-0 To Brazil

The Black Stars Of Ghana played the Selecao of Brazil yesterday in the first of 3 lined up friendly matches before the World Cup in Qatar. Many knew this was a game that would be difficult for the Black Stars considering the Brazilians being number 2 in the world. Ghana is one of the 5 nations from Africa that will be representing the continent at the mundial. Coach Otto Addo paraded old faces in the first half as the debutants all started from the bench.

Perhaps the first half was one half the Ghana team will never want to have again. It saw a jittery side swallow 3 quick goals as Marquinhos and Richarlison run riots in the Ghana defense. The second half returned with better play from the Ghana team and both sides played to a draw in the second half. The game ended 3-0 and this results will inform the Otto Addo ahead of his next friendly against Nicaragua on Tuesday.

Well, Nigerians who were knocked out by Ghana in the last qualifier for the world cup have been reacting to Ghana’s loss to Brazil. Much of the commentary called on Ghana not to go to the world cup because the team will be embarrassed and this will humiliate the entire continent, referring to Ghana as Banku nation, Nigerians called on Ghana to focus on preparing Banku and leave the World Cup for teams like Nigeria to go.

Interestingly, Nigeria’s Team A yesterday played a Team B side of Algeria. The Algeria team had Under 23 players and yet Nigeria managed a 2-2 draw. The main Algerian team beat Guinea by 1-0. In other matches relating to African teams, Cameroun lost 0-2 to Uzbekistan, Morocco beat Chile 2-0, Egypt 3-0 Niger, Mali 1-0 Zambia and Ethiopia 1-1 Sudan.
