A young woman, 17, known by the alias Zuri Ohama is under the fire of some of Ghana’s citizens after her push for abortion rights as a Catholic.
Ohama is known to reside in the United States where she attends highschool and until recently attended church there. Her competition poetry performance sent shock through Ghana when she performed ‘What God Said That’ as a message to the church.
Some are saying that Ohama was blaming the Catholic church for the fear of abortion instilled in women. Others are standing with Ohama as an activist for women even it means standing against the government. Her campaign that is expected to launch tomorrow to push women to stand for abortion rights and stop abortion shaming. “It’s not our place to judge what you don’t know for sure.”
