The Ghanaian lawyer and Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kobina Tahir Hammond has reacted to the booing of President Akufo-Addo at the Global Citizen Festival over the weekend. As many Ghanaians can recall, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was not given the chance to complete his speech as the crowd was booing him off stage. This became a talk on the radio, television, and social media after the event.
Some Ghanaians said that President Akufo-Addo deserves the embarrassment that was given to him by the youths while others said that what happened over the weekend was uncalled for and is a disgrace to Ghana. However, Hon. KT Hammond believes that most of the people who booed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are youths. They believe the President has disappointed them and so can disgrace him in any place they want.
However, if there is any issue to solve in a country, a family, or a community to solve it is elderly people they call and not empty-headed youths. Speaking in the video, he said that the youths alone cannot solve the issues in the country or make Ghana better so they should exercise patience.
This is what he said in the video, “What I will say is that the youths must exercise patience. The president is the leader of this country and this platform was not a political platform. So if he starts to give his speech and the youths start to say away! away!!, what is the meaning of that? If there is any serious issue to be solved, it is elderly people who are called and not empty-headed youths. The heads of those who were booing president Akufo-Addo look like coconut with nothing inside. The youths cannot make this country a better place they should keep quiet”.
