Ghanaian movie star Yvonne Nelson has criticized the over reliance on prayers and religion and has asked government to rather prioritize national development has a country. 

Yvonne who was speaking about National Cathedral project indicated that President Akufo Addo’s government is having the wrong priorities.

The “Kotoka” actress feels that constructing a church should be the last thing the government considers given the current economic situation.

However, government should prioritize spending on the health or education industries.

“I believe with the current economic hardship building a church should be the last thing on Government’s mind, they should rather invest in education or the health sector, she said on Power Entertainment on Power979fm

Personally, I pray a lot… I doubt anyone prays more than I do,” she added.

The well-known actress thinks the National Cathedral is admirable but that the time is not right.

The government through the Ministry of Finance authorized the release of ¢25 million for the construction of the National Cathedral in Accra.
