Massive Reactions As Ghana’s Female Athletes Receive Good News At Commonwealth Games

It is usually said that everyone loves to receive good news. The bad news is not loved by anyone. Well, there is a season for everything. A time of weeping should not conflict with the time for excitement.

Ghanaians were extremely disappointed when the men’s 4 by 100metres team missed the opportunity to progress as medalists due to their inability to abide by the rules at the ongoing Commonwealth games. The rule was for every relay team to notify the officials about any change in running orders at least one hour to the start of the event but Ghana’s 4 by 100 metres flouted the rule and got disqualified.

Whilst the men were in a bad mood and disappointed, the women’s 4 by 100metres were excelling in their track event as they secured a place in the finals.

Many Ghanaians have reacted to the good news as they congratulated the ladies for abiding by the rules of the game and eventually securing their place in the finals.

Other Ghanaians have vented their spleen at the men for wasting state resources and dragging the good name of the country in the mud. These Ghanaians have indicated that women should not just qualify for the finals but bring laurels to the country.

Interestingly, some Ghanaians have indicated the women’s team has done very well in securing their qualification and they hope that Mary would be a finisher on the team to nail a victory for Ghana. The women have also been advised to follow all the rules communicating changes to the running order at least one hour to time.

What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion? Who amongst the women’s team should start and who should finish? Should the coaches or trainers use Mary as the ultimate finisher as proposed by some Ghanaians? What should the government do to motivate the team to help secure more laurels across all competitions? Have the women made any achievements in the past and are they poised to win gold?
