My Father Remains The Governor, The Mandate Of Osun State Will Not Be Stolen -Sina Adeleke

Ademola Adeleke’s tenure as the governor of Osun state might have met a quick end as the Osun Election Petition Tribunal on Friday declared Oyetola as the rightful winner of the Osun state governorship election held on the 16th of July 2022.

Adeleke scored a total of 403,371 votes to defeat Oyetola who scored 375,027 votes at the polls last year.

However, Adeleke’s victory at the polls was challenged by Oyetola which subsequently led to Oyetola’s victory at the Tribunal.

Oyetola was declared victorious as he was said to have the majority of the lawful votes after “over-voting” were deducted from both candidates. He scored a total 314,921 votes while Adeleke gathered 290,266 votes.

Reacting to Adeleke’s defeat, his son, Sina Adeleke said that his father remains the governor of Osun state and the judgement by the Tribunal would be challenged at the court of appeal.

He wrote;

“Two judgments issued today at the Tribunal. One in favor of PDP. Nothing changed. Sen. Ademola Adeleke remains the governor of Osun state. We move to the appeal court peace be still. The mandate of Osun will not be stolen. Ademola Adeleke remains the governor of Osun state.”
