A Summary of Kirani Ayat’s Issue

Ayat is an upcoming musician who produced a piece of music followed up with a high-quality music video aimed at promoting Ghana, especially the northern part of the country as a place of serenity. The song is titled Guda. Ayat adds that he reached out to the Ministry of Tourism in 2018/2019 to collaborate with the Ministry by using his song and music video. His applications weren’t successful back then however he realized that in 2022 a segment of his was being used on the official Twitter handle of the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo. He, therefore, called the Ministry out on social media.

This has been Nana Addo’s Problem Since Day One – A Plus Reveals

Kwame A-plus in his reaction sided with Kirani Ayat. Firstly because he had worked in the music industry and thus he understood how copyright and royalties work. He also gave the instance that even the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mark Okraku-Mantey would not be happy if some of the music he produced was used without his permission.

Secondly, he added that the President has had a particular problem since day one. The problem was that he relies on agencies that do not carry out due diligence when it comes to executing projects concerned with plagiarism and copyright. A-Plus gave the instance of the President’s inauguration speech which was allegedly plagiarized from the speech of George Bush during his inauguration in 2001.

Kwame A-Plus wrapped up his statements by saying that the heads of the Ministry of Tourism have no right to get angry at Kirani Ayat because Ayat had the opportunity to take them to court but didn’t, he simply called them out on social media.
