Nairobi county being the capital city of Kenyan attracts many people who think that their lives would be better if they live there. According to the report from Dr. Githinji Gitahi, the death rates have been rising in Nairobi and three major diseases are causing these deaths. These three diseases have been identified as respiratory, diarrheal, and skin diseases.

According to the team led by Dr. Githinji Gitahi, poor sanitation and poor living conditions are what contribute to the contraction of these deadly diseases. This is true for a large population of Nairobi living in slums. the other diseases that lead to death are pneumonia, malaria, urinary tract infections, ear infection, typhoid fever, dental disorders, and accidents. “Due to poor water, sanitation, and hygiene, more than half the population are at risk of contracting diseases and death, with over 75 percent of the country’s disease burden caused by poor personal hygiene, inadequate sanitation practices, and unsafe drinking water,” a report from the team led by Dr. Githinji Gitahi read.
