Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and leader of G-5 governors has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Enugu State, Peter Mbah, would win the governorship election convincingly.

He also assured that he would consolidate on the achievements of outgoing Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Wike made the announcement in Enugu during the weekend’s flag-off of the Enugu State 2023 PDP campaign at Michael Okpara Square, flanked by other G-5 members Ugwuanyi, Ortom, and Makinde.

According to him, Mbah had as good a chance of winning as anyone based on the massive turnout at the event and the laudatory remarks made there by high-ranking party officials.

“Ugwuanyi is someone who means it when he says yes. It makes sense that the whole population of Enugu State is firmly behind him.

“Since Ugwuanyi belongs to us, Mbah does too. We would all provide PDP candidates with the necessary backing to make sure you win the upcoming elections, he said.

He thanked every PDP supporter for their assistance with Ugwuanyi, saying that he had observed the young guy who would succeed him pursuing consolidation.

Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, thanked the people of Enugu State for their support of the PDP since the country’s transition to democracy in 1999 in a separate speech. According to Vanguard.

He asked party members to support candidates for governor, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Assembly but he made no mention of the presidency.

Ahead of time, Peter Mbah, the PDP candidate for governor in the state, praised Ugwuanyi for building the state’s infrastructure and maintaining the calm.

He pledged to expand Enugu State’s economy and expand on the democratic benefits that Ugwuanyi had established.

The G-5 governors, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Dr. Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, Chief Ali Odefa, PDP National Vice Chairman for the South East, Edward Ubosi, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, and all of the PDP candidates for the upcoming general election in 2023 were present.
