Politicians Build Religious Houses, Neglect Schools – Okorocha

Former governor of Imo State and founder of Rochas Foundation, Rochas Okorocha, has launched a new project aimed at getting one million out-of-school children back into education. The Teach a Child/Sponsor a Child Project, which was unveiled in Abuja on Tuesday, aims to tackle the issue of the 13.5 million out-of-school children in Nigeria, which is a part of the larger problem of 50 million out-of-school children in Africa.

Speaking at the launch, Okorocha emphasized the importance of education as a means of liberation for Nigerian children. He stated that the country has built political parties, hotels, churches and mosques, but has not built factories that manufacture dreams and aspirations. He also criticized the neglect of education in the past, stating that education should be better than it is now, despite the country’s population of 200 million people.

Okorocha outlined that the project would be a volunteering and mentorship program, with the goal of getting all out-of-school children back to school by 2050. The Director-General of the foundation, Uchechi Rochas, emphasized the importance of investing in people to make other sectors productive. She also highlighted the importance of involving stakeholders from all sectors in the TAC-SAC project, and the need to revive the spirit of volunteerism in the country.

Rochas also pointed out that the majority of out-of-school children are female and that empowering the girl child is crucial for the empowerment of the nation. She also highlighted the dangers of not educating children, stating that uneducated children are more likely to engage in criminal activities and terrorism. In conclusion, the TAC-SAC project aims to address the pressing issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria by targeting one million children through a volunteering and mentorship program, with the ultimate goal of getting all out-of-school children back to school by 2050.
