Reactions As Kakamega Girl’s Painful Letter to Dad After Failing to Join Form,

A young girl has fallen out with her father and her immediate family after she could not be admitted to school.Melvin Masitsa scored 319 marks in the 2022 KCPE and was slated to proceed to secondary school like most of her peers.She was frustrated upon learning about her father’s non-commitment to educate her further.

“Kama unaona nakusumbua, nauheshimu uamuzi wako…penye utanipata unipite kama hunijui,” reads an excerpt of the letter.

The girl was defiled on April 25 and succumbed from the resulting complications on Monday, May 23.She was a Grade Three pupil at Mutoma Primary School and had been in and out of hospital since April 25.Mr Akungwi said the man grabbed his second-born and only daughter and took her into a nearby sugarcane plantation, where he raped her.

Regardless of the government forbidding the selling of attire in schools, parents said they were left at the disposal of the officials who are abusing them.

They now seek the government’s intervention against the heads, who are also enforcing additional fees and other covert fees in violation of the rules set out by the Ministry of Education.
