Sacking the best players in the team because of age is not right – Mohammed Polo

Abdul Fatawu Mohammed (born 6 June 1992) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a right-back and captains Ghanaian Premier league side Accra Hearts of Oak.

Since the appointment of Slavko Matic, the Phobians have sacked two players, Fatawu Mohammed and Mohammed Alhassan.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Polo said; “How can a new coach just decide to sack players he thinks are ageing without thorough knowledge about them? If you cannot adopt a technical direction that will suit the players available to you as a coach, you will always have problems and that is the exact problem Hearts is confronted with.

“The players at Hearts are fantastic but it’s the coach who needs to develop a strategy that will see Hearts winning. Sacking the players is not the solution”.

Hearts of Oak are gripped on the 4th spot of the Ghana Premier League, and have been dumped out from the MTN FA Cup.
