They Are Your Elders So Respect Them – Ghanaians ‘Blast’ Prof Gyampo As He Laments Fuel Prices

Professor Ransford Gyampo of the Political Science Department on Monday made certain observations regarding how President Akufo-Addo was booed by some Ghanaians on Saturday night. The President while delivering his keynote address at the Global Citizen Festival was booed by some Ghanaians. Many have tried to give reasons as to why such an incident happened when the whole world was watching Ghana.

Prof. Gyampo had mentioned that despite the economic hardships in the country, Ghanaians should have thrown their moral values aside and jeered at the President. He called on Ghanaians to hold on to their courtesies and respect and show same to leaders in the country. Well many didn’t receive this comment with joy and blasted the learned man.

Today, Prof Gyampo leading UTAG and other Labor Unions granted d a press conference. According to them they were displeased that government had reduced their 10 cedis allowance on fuel to 6 cedis. Prof Gyampo wondered why this will happen and questioned if these same leaders who gave them this news also buy fuel at this high rate. According to him, “Unserious minds are messing with serious minds”

Well, Ghanaians have responded to this post on Facebook. Many are now questioning the respect or courtesy values of Prof Gyampo. They say he also has to respect his elders and not question them. This is more like a tit for tat. Ransford Gyampo questioned why some Ghanaians have lost respect for elders and today his own followers are telling him to be calm and respect the decision that his elders have made to reduce his allowance.

Was Prof Gyampo humble and respectful with his post or he should respect him elders? Who are the unserious minds here and why are they messing with serious minds?
