To increase commerce, Ghana and the EU have launched an agriculture portal.

Accra has seen the introduction of an online portal that would connect Ghanaian agribusinesses with peers in the European Union (EU) market.

The European Chamber of Commerce in Ghana (EuroCham Ghana) and the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana (CAG) have partnered to create the Ghana-EU Agribusiness , which is supported by the EU.

It fits into the EU’s larger plan to create the AU-EU Agri-Food , which will spark inclusive and sustainable investments in African agriculture.

Speaking in an interview at the launch, the Treasurer of EuroCham Ghana, Mr Andrea Ghai, said businesses that would subscribe to the platform would benefit from different information about market opportunities.

“Ghana can take the best from the Europeans and learn from what they are doing. According to him, the European nations might also require raw materials to support their businesses and create secondary goods.

The platform includes several features, a calendar of agribusiness-related events, a digital library of pertinent publications, and an agribusiness directory, all of which are beneficial to registered members by enhancing visibility and building connections between their agribusinesses and the market.

Anthony Morrison, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CAG, stated that the platform would guarantee the security of member data.

To ensure that they do not violate members’ privacy or give competitors in the market an unfair advantage, he said it will be done through the application of both Ghanaian and EU data protection laws.

Raffaelle Quarto, the first trade counsellor for the EU delegation in Ghana, asserted that the Union is attempting to forge a strategic alliance with Africa.
