Student leaders and parents have appealed to the federal government, FG, and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to find means of ameliorating the hardship brought about by the redesigning of the naira, saying students are suffering as a result of not having access to the local currency.

According to them, urgent steps must be taken so that the issue would not get out of hand.

The National President of the National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN, Alhaji Haruna Danjuma, the immediate past National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Sunday Asefon, and the Southwest Coordinator of NANS, Adejuwon Emmanuel Olatunji, faulted the implementation of the exercise in chats with Vanguard newspaper.

CBN Deceived Buhari, Says Oshiomole

The former All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, on Sunday, joined other ruling party chieftains claiming that the naira redesign was aimed at scuttling the presidential election.

Speaking on Sunday during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘The 2023 Verdict’, the former Edo State governor claimed the Central Bank of Nigeria deceived the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), into approving the naira redesign policy.

Rivers NLC Orders Sit-At-Home Over Fuel, Naira Scarcity

The Nigerian Labour Congress, Rivers State chapter has ordered all civil servants in the state to sit at home if the fuel and naira scarcities persist on Monday.

The state NLC chairperson, Beatrice Itubo, issued the threat in a char with newsmen on Sunday evening.

Itubo, who is also the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Rivers State, expressed sadness that the workers salaries which she described as static could no longer bear the high cost of transport.

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment Justice Adebisi Femi-Segun as the Acting President for the state Customary Court of Appeal.

The governor also approved the appointment of eight new judges to the state Judiciary.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kunle Somorin, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abeokuta.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly and security agencies to stop attacks on opposition figures in Ebonyi before the issue degenerates into full blown violence.

“ violent attacks and killings are not checked, the situation in Ebonyi may snowball beyond imagination and the blood bath may result in a chain of other terrible events,” the PDP governorship campaign warned in a statement signed by spokesman Abia Onyike on Sunday.
