Ukrainian teachers in Luhansk region forced to obtain Russian passports.

Teachers from Ukraine who stayed to work in the occupied area of Luhansk Oblast are being forced to apply for Russian passports by the Russian occupying forces. 

“In the temporarily occupied areas of the Luhansk region, the Russian [invaders] are compelling Ukrainian teachers to apply for Russian passports. 

Teachers who continued to work in the temporarily controlled areas have all been informed that they will lose their jobs if they do not obtain Russian passports.” 

Even though dual citizenship is permitted in the Russian Federation, the NRC also stated that teachers have been obliged to submit an application to relinquish their Ukrainian citizenship. 

Teachers will receive faster distribution of Russian passports from the invading Russians. 

The Russian occupation forces in Donetsk Oblast were pressuring employees of state-owned and municipal organizations to apply for Russian passports, the NRC reported at the end of January.
