What is the cause of this alleged issue of poisoning by actors against each other?

The Ghanaian entertainment industry has been on its knees for a long time. It is not as vibrant as it used to be. Ranging from comedy to music, we are lagging heavily behind our neighbours Nigeria in every aspect. Their music is gaining world acclaim just as their movies are doing. They must be doing something right that Ghanaians should be seeking to emulate. A lot of our actors and actresses have now relocated to Nigeria because our movie industry has collapsed. Kumawood which has been holding the fort for some time now is also on its knees. We have gone from grace to grass. Instead of us finding solutions to our problems, all we hear of are allegations of actors poisoning each other on set.

The issue of poisoning has been raised by so many actors and actresses in the past. The latest was former talented kids runner up Enoch Darko known widely by the moniker “watabomshell“. He narrated an instance where he was poisoned on set. He said he later went to enquire from somewhere and was told a colleague did that to him. Enoch is a very talented actor that has taken the Nigerian movie industry by storm after relocating there few years ago. He has acted alongside so many of the big guys and ladies in Nollywood. Atemuda, another Ghanaian comic actor made the same allegations some few weeks ago on Kingdom FM. This issue of poisoning is becoming too many. What at all is the problem? Why should we be doing this to ourselves? We can progress as an industry if such issues keep popping up. It discourages people from the industry and also scared away investors.

These allegations are portraying a negative image of an already collapsing industry. How do we expect someone to come and put money in such an industry with such allegations? They will be even scared for their lives. What the entertainment needs right now is adequate investments and these allegations always flying around won’t help in any way.
