Where Was Prof Gyampo When The Auditor-General Indicted University Of Ghana?

Popular writer for NPP, Professor Emmanuel Gyampo has quizzed the where about of Professor Ransford Gyampo when University of Ghana was indicted by the Auditor General.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 1st October 2022, he wrote;

“Professor Ransford Gyampo has taken a swipe at the Akufo-Addo administration in what he described as the worst hardship in Ghana since 1983.To the millions out there who never saw the 83 famine, this position expressed by Gyampo may resonate well with them. To the thousands who saw 83, they may beg to differ with him.”

He said that according to Prof Gyampo, the reality is that, times are hard. Not even the President and his appointees have denied this fact. However, the reasons for these hardships are not homegrown and this has been forcefully emphasized by Government and even the IMF.

It, therefore, behoves any objective-minded political scientist or analyst to situate the discourse in its proper perspective. If Gyampo were objective, he would not have blamed Akufo-Addo for same. As it has always been his modus operandi, Akufo-Addo is to blame. PK Sarpong remarked.

He quizzed that is it not strange that Gyampo’s pen or laptop with which he pens his nice opinion pieces went to sleep when the Auditor-General cited his institution, University of Ghana, for running courses which are not accredited?

The Auditor-General’s 2021 report revealed that 374 academic programmes at the University of Ghana are unaccredited. Out of the 374 courses, 14 of them are Diploma programmes, 80 out of the 374 programmes are Undergraduate courses, Post-Graduate unaccredited courses are 213, and 67 PhD courses.

P.K Sarpong alleged that when this damning report came out, Gyampo went on a hiatus from radio and television discussions. His phones went off or out of coverage area. He lost his chilling voice when the Auditor-General’s report indicted the University of Ghana.

Today, for some reasons, Ransford Gyampo has located his phones and is gleefully lambasting President Akufo-Addo. It’s all about interests. Subjective Gyampo must dispense with this kind selective approach to issues. P.K Sarpong added.
