Why Is Ghana Suffering When We Have The Largest Hotel In Africa?

Early this year, the Tourism Minister had his name featured in the list of Ministers who are low performing in their allocated Ministry and as such must be sacked by the President or resign willingly. That wind of call of resignation has died with the current pressure been mounted on the Finance Minister every now and then. With the current discovery of this fact, some of the pressure been mounted on the Finance Minister must be diverted to the Tourism Minister.

It has been established by African Report Files that, Ghana is the country that poses the largest hotel in the continent Africa. The hotel in question is the Rock City Hotel. It can be found in Ghana, specifically Nkwatia in the Eastern Region.

A quick tour of the hotel will amaze since the hotel has a colossal number of rooms, 2700. Also, the hotel has an aquarium, a water park, a zoo, an 18 and 9 hole golf course. It is anticipated that there will be more facilities by 2025. Currently, 880 rooms are under construction.

I am sure your mouth has been opened wide by this revelation. The question that one might ask is, how and why must the Tourism Minister be blamed. The hotels, spots and other facilities fall under the Hospitality industry. The Hospitality industry is further under the Tourism industry. Thus, one cannot help but wonder why Ghana is still not developed even with this facility.

Technically, policies by the Finance Ministry are those that influence the attraction or sacking of investors in the country, that is the creation of a stable economic atmosphere. However, ideally, have we thought of where these investors will sleep. Thus, with the development of the hospitality industry, the capital inflows into this country will be unprecedented. Thus, one cannot help but agree with Presidential Hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, that the Tourism Industry can change the fortune of this country.
