Blue Water Girls U15 league: East Empress, Campbellville United bag first wins as League kicks off

The Blue Water Shipping- Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Girls’ Under-15 Developmental Football League got underway on Saturday morning at the GFF’s National Training Center at Providence, East Bank Demerara, after being launched back in February of 2022.

The tournament is expected to see teams from all across Guyana competing in the under-15 age group against each other, not only for the sake of competition, but also to get a better understanding of the technicalities of the sport, and to develop their skills.
Georgetown became the first association to have its league launched when 4 teams jumped into action on Saturday morning. However, before the first whistle was blown, GFF President Wayne Forde was on hand to share some encouragement with the young girls.

“Football is such a beautiful game, and you’re going to have a really good time playing, enjoying it, and making new friends. I want to ask you to enjoy the moment. It’s not just about winning, it’s about having fun with the game,” the GFF President told the young ladies.
He went on to assure, “Some of you might be playing football for the first time, many of you may have been playing it before, but what I can assure you is: if you continue to play and you stick with it throughout this season, at the end of it, you will all be a much better player than you were when you started the tournament. And that is what we are trying to do: we’re trying to ensure that every young girl that is playing this tournament is given a chance to develop,” Forde remarked.

The second game, which saw Freeburg Falcons taking on Campbellville United, resulted in a 4-0 victory for Campbellville. Jorcialy Salina netted a hattrick, while Robella Alexander contributed one to the Campbellville tally.
