National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang has labelled as grossly inaccurate the suggestion from Police Federation chairman Corporal Rohan James that the government has not provided adequate resources to police officers to carry out their duties.
While calling for more resources for police officers, Corporal James said there were more recruits but few uniforms and ballistic vests and shields.
Dr. Chang acknowledged the problem, citing procurement and supply chain challenges, but said the comment is unfortunate and " borders on being very political".
Despite the procurement and supply chain issues, he said the government wants to improve the standard of policing and has committed to repairing all police stations in an effort to achieve this.
