Jamaica’s final appellate court, the Privy Council, has granted incarcerated dancehall artiste Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer an ‘expedited hearing’ regarding his murder conviction appeal.

Isat Buchanan, the attorney representing Vybz Kartel, confirmed the latest development.

“The date is confirmed as the 14 and 15 of February 2024, following the granting of an application for expedited hearing,” Buchanan said.

“The application was made after Mr Palmer’s health scare when placed in solitary confinement earlier this year,” he added.

It was reported earlier this year by Fox News New York that Kartel’s Graves’ disease and heart condition were getting worse, and that if he did not get surgery soon, it could be fatal.

Kartel was convicted along with Kahiro Jones, Andre St John, and Shawn Campbell in the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in August 2011, at a house in Havendale, St Andrew.
