On Thursday, when Andrea Thompson called THE WEEKEND STAR's offices, for a few minutes all she could do was cry.
In addition to battling cancer, the 51-year-old said she has not laid eyes on her 15-year-old daughter Dannilla Wynter for the past nine months. She is seeking the public's assistance in locating her.
"Mi very sick and mi suppose to do surgery in less than two months and mi don't have any money to travel around to look for her. Most time mi in the hospital because mi have cancer and mi suppose to do surgery and mi daughter is not here. Mi a beg her to just come home because mi miss her and it a stress mi. Mi already sick from cancer, but when mi nah see her, it make mi sick more. She is mi only child and mi only little company and mi feel it bad because mi can't hear nutten from her. A mi one grow the little girl, enuh," Thompson said between tears.
Dannilla, who hails from Crofts Hill, Clarendon, is of dark complexion, slim build and approximately five feet tall. Thompson said the last time she saw the teenager was when she sent her to school at Claude McKay High on the morning of January 17.
"She just never return home. She leave home when she was 14 years old and now she is 15 and mi still can't see back mi daughter. Mi and her never have anything, enuh. As school over the day, mi start call her phone because mi did want she come home early because a relative was coming to visit and she never answer," Thompson said.
Thompson said when she contacted Dannilla's form teacher, she was told that the teenager did not attend classes on that particular day. She said she immediately lodged a missing person's report at the Crofts Hill Police Station.
"We hear say she was in Douglas Castle with a man who is much older than her. Afterward we hear say she deh in Salt Spring in Montego Bay. People say dem see her on Facebook with the same man, but I don't see her. Mi nah get no help to find her so mi a beg Jamaica to just be on the lookout for her and send her come home if dem see har. Unnu please tell her to come home. Mi woulda glad if mi see her," Thompson said.
