Children's Advocate recommends rehabilitation for William Knibb student student imprisoned for killing schoolmate

Children's Advocate Diahann Gordon Harrison wants the government to focus on rehabilitation of the teenage boy sentenced for the murder of his schoolmate Khamal Hall.

The 17-year-old William Knibb High School student was on Monday sentenced to 58 months in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

Hall, then the goalkeeper for William Knibb's Dacosta Cup football team, was fatally stabbed on March 21 this year after he and his attacker had a dispute over a ring.

Mrs Gordon Harrison told Radio Jamaica News that she's in support of the sentence but hopes it will come with adequate rehabilitation for the youngster.

On the other hand, Natasha Roach, mother of the deceased teen, has expressed disappointment with what she sees as an unjustifiably lenient sentence.
