Criminal Records Office promises imminent end to long wait for records

With the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Criminal Records Office, (CRO) continuing to upgrade its technology systems, clients are being promised that they will soon be able to access their records without waiting in long lines.

Details were shared on Thursday during a tour of  the CRO by Minister of  National Security Dr. Horace Chang.

Dr. Chang pointed out that, while the Office received a US$5 million upgrade with the Multi-Biometric Identification System, more interventions are needed to reduce the long line of  persons waiting for appointments.

Stefan Robinson, acting Project Manager Major for Communication and ICT Projects in the Ministry of National Security Ministry, said plans are in place to continuously improve the system.

These include persons receiving certificates in a shorter period of  time and removing the need for some persons to go to the CRO.

Yvette Spencer, Operations Manager at the JCF's Technology Branch, said discussions are under way to implement online applications to book appointments.
