Elderly businessman dies after dramatic gun attack in St Mary Loop Jamaica

The St Mary police are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a businessman whose motor vehicle was reportedly shot up and later found over a precipice in Broadgate on Thursday night.

The deceased is 72-year-old Dellavale Banbury of Iter Boreale, St Mary.

According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the police’s information arm, information concerning the incident is still being gathered.

However, the information so far suggests that Banbury was “shot and killed by unknown assailants while driving along the roadway”.

A police source said the results of a post-mortem will determine the cause of Banbury’s death, as the vehicle he was driving was found extensively damaged.

Initial reports had indicated that sometime after 6pm on Thursday, a motorist contacted the police and informed them that while driving along the Broadgate main road, he allegedly saw occupants of a Toyota Probox motorcar firing shots at another vehicle.

The police went to investigate and, on their arrival, the vehicle was seen over the precipice.
