Jamaica records fourth monkeypox case

Jamaica has recorded its second locally transmitted case of monkeypox and the fourth infection from the viral disease.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness says the patient is currently isolated at home and the parish health department has commenced its contract tracing.

The patient has no recent travel history and was not in contact with the three previously announced cases.

The Ministry of Health says it will issue a routine weekly update on the state of monkeypox in the country on Mondays via its website and social media platforms.

The ministry says other modes of communication will also be utilised as necessary, to complement the public education campaign and community engagement activities.
