The Jamaica Medical Doctors Association (JMDA) is questioning the delay in getting a meeting with the Finance Ministry to address issues relating to the public sector compensation review.
JMDA President Mindi Fitz-Henley says it has been sending messages to the ministry about its desire to discuss key issues. But she says the various requests have been ignored.
While she congratulated other unions that have signed on to the government's wage offer under the new compensation system, she questioned why the doctors' group was not "being given the same opportunity".
Dr. Fitz-Henley said the group still has important issues that need to be resolved, including certain rates it has been requesting since "the first meeting that we had in July".
She said the JMDA recognises the looming deadline for the wage agreements to be finalised and is "willing to meet to try and separate some of the key issues".
She insisted: "We have to ensure that due diligence is being followed and that it benefits every single one of our members."
