Andre Smith, the only defendant in the One Don Gang trial who was on bail was killed on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old, who was living on Watley Avenue as part of his bail condition, was shot dead on Hagley Park Road in St. Andrew.
Reports indicate that about 9 o'clock, Mr. Smith, otherwise called Bolo, was driving a motor car along the roadway when two men aboard a motorcycle drove up beside him opened gunfire, hitting him.
The car crashed along the roadway.
Mr. Smith was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He was on trial for being a member of a criminal organisation and conspiracy to the murder of two men from Denham Town.
The trial, which started last September, has been adjourned until September 19, to facilitate the closing of the court's Easter Term.
The defence will continue its closing submissions when the trial reconvenes.
