PIOJ reports growth in Agriculture Industry

The Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Industry grew by 8 point 6 per cent for the January to March quarter.

The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) says this was driven by increased demand for produce and more favourable weather conditions during the period.

The group "cereals" saw the highest growth in output, at 23 point 7 per cent.

There was also an increase in traditional export crops of 7 point 8 per cent for the three months.

The PIOJ says bananas led the category, with a 10 per cent increase in output.
