Psychiatric evaluation ordered for alleged wife killer

The St Catherine Parish Court has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for a resident man who allegedly beat his wife to death in November of last year.

He has been identified as Paul Walker while his wife is 44-year-old labourer Nicola Walker.

According to reports, on Sunday November 6, 2022, Paul and his wife go into a dispute, during which he allegedly punched and kicked Nicola all over her body.

She was hospitalised as a result of injuries received, and succumbed to those injuries on December 28, 2022.

Following her death the police charged Paul with murder.

He was ordered remanded until February 10, 2023, by Judge Tracey-Ann Johnson.

Attorney-at-Law, Peter Champanie, told the court having just received the case file, he would give the crown time to look into the allegations.

"I will not be applying for bail at this time, but I think that my client would benefit from a psychiatric evaluation," Champanie said.
