Shab Don charged with three counts of murder

Music Producer Linval Thompson - otherwise called 'Shab Don' -  has been charged with three counts of murder arising from a recent mass shooting in Rose Heights, St James.

The Police High Command reported Saturday afternoon that the producer was charged earlier on Saturday by the Major Investigation Division (MID) after he was pointed out on an identification parade in connection with the shooting.

Two men and a woman were killed in the attack when gunmen drove into the community and opened fire on residents on May 25.

Two other individuals, including a 15 year-old, were also injured in the incident.

It's reported that 53 spent shells from high powered weapons were found at the scene.

Investigators alleged that Shab Don was one of the active shooters.

His attorney, Donahue Martin, confirmed that his client has been charged with murder, telling Radio Jamaica News that his client will defend himself against the allegations.

The producer is also scheduled to return to court to answer to a charge of breaching the Corruption Prevention Act last October.

It's alleged that Shab Don offered a policeman two million dollars to remove an illegal firearm from his vehicle before it was searched.
