Skeng proclaims opposition to gun violence

Jamaican dancehall artiste Skeng has declared that he does not condone gun violence; this in response to the decision by Guyana to ban him from performing at public events.

In a media release, the artiste's management team said his music is merely an expression of art.

The ban stemmed from a shooting at the May 28 concert where Skeng - whose given name is Kevon Douglas - was performing.

Skeng and his management distanced themselves from the shooting, blaming it on poor security measures.

The incident occurred as the 21 year-old was performing his popular song Protocol.

The shooting caused the event to end in chaos as patrons fled.

Guyana's Public Security Minister, Robeson Benn says the ban extends to all artistes with a record of  promoting vulgar behavior.

Mr Benn says the artistes will not be given permission to appear on a public stage but will be allowed to make private appearances.
