Wanted Man Shot Dead by Police in Central Village

One of two suspects in the shooting death of a man on Little Lane in Central Village, St. Catherine, was fatally shot following a confrontation with police on Thursday, August 4.

According to the Central Police, at approximately 11:00 a.m., two armed men on foot opened fire on a man on Little Lane. The gunmen then attempted to flee, but a police unit on patrol in the vicinity witnessed what was happening and challenged the shooters.

One of the gunmen was shot and killed during the confrontation. The police recovered a Glock 17 pistol with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds of ammunition. The other man managed to get away.

On arriving at the hospital, both the shooter and his victim were confirmed dead.

The victim has been identified as Roderick Beckford, 33, of Little Lane in Central Village, St. Catherine. The deceased gunman is  30-year-old Everton McDonald, also known as Devon Brown or “Blender,” of East Street, Kingston. In May 2021, he appeared on the JCF’s Wanted Wednesdays list.
