Bursa Malaysia stays in positive territory at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 — Bursa Malaysia’s main index remained upbeat at mid-morning, supported by persistent buying in selected heavyweights, especially in the industrial products and services and technology counters.

Press Metal Aluminium increased six sen to RM4.70 and Inari Amertron added eight sen to RM2.78, and the gains in both counters boosted the composite index by a combined 1.04 points.

At 11.01am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 4.26 points higher at 1,384.87 compared with 1,380.61 at yesterday’s close.

The key index opened 1.09 points firmer at 1,381.70 this morning.

The broader market was positive with gainers leading losers 379 to 281, while 383 counters were unchanged, 1,212 untraded and 12 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.32 billion units worth RM586.38 million.

Among other heavyweights, Axiata, IHH Healthcare, and Petronas Chemicals rose three points each to RM2.65, RM5.80, and RM6.45, respectively, and Tenaga Nasional perked four sen to RM9.18.

However, Petronas Gas decreased 14 sen to RM16.74.

Of the active counters, Sarawak Consolidated rose one sen to 38 sen and Classita increased half-a-sen to 11 sen, while XOX, Hubline and Dagang NeXchange were flat at 1.5 sen, four sen and 51 sen, respectively.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 39.35 points higher at 10,236.35, the FBMT 100 Index improved 38.62 points to 9,931.39, the FBM Emas Shariah Index went up 58.54 points to 10,596.15, the FBM ACE Index ticked up 20.02 points to 5,166.55 and FBM 70 Index was 86.05 points firmer at 13,623.72.

Sector-wise, the Energy Index widened 6.98 points to 787.64, the Financial Services Index bagged 6.38 points to 15,205.77, and the Industrial Products and Services Index earned 0.82 of-a-point to 159.57, while the Plantation Index erased 15.34 points to 6,702.90. — Bernama
