PETALING JAYA: A PAS leader has dismissed Khairy Jamaluddin’s claim the party has little international presence, saying its representatives are often invited to conferences held in the Middle East.

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari also said their leaders attend such events as the party’s representatives.

“We don’t get much coverage despite the fact we attend these conferences, so the public is not aware.

“And, at our end, we do not publicise our involvement in such events,” he told FMT.

Khairy, a fellow at the Yusof Ishak Institute, Singapore, also said the institute had invited PAS for a dialogue next year, but a PAS leader had turned down the offer.

The former Umno Youth leader advised PAS to come out of its “SG4 shell”, the loose grouping of four PAS-led states, to prove it could administer and be accepted by the International community.

Fadhli said PAS welcomed constructive criticism from those outside the party, including Khairy, and was prepared to change for the better.

“We will need to not only increase our presence at international events, but to publicise it to the public,” the Pasir Mas MP said.
