PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) denial of appointing Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB) to replace 200 lamp posts in the Klang Valley has raised more questions than answers, says a DAP MP.
In a statement yesterday, DBKL denied reports it gave the RM30.75 million contract to SCIB, awarded via Ennova Sdn Bhd, for the project.
This was despite SCIB making a filing with Bursa Malaysia saying it had been awarded the job.
DBKL said it never authorised any third party to appoint SCIB nor any of its subsidiaries to carry out projects.
Speaking to FMT, DAP public complaints bureau chairman Lim Lip Eng questioned who was actually paying the RM30.75 million and who was its recipient.
“Is DBKL denying there was ever an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract valued at RM30.75 million for the replacement of 200 lamp posts in the Klang Valley to begin with?
“Will DBKL and the Securities Commission ask SCIB, a public listed company, for clarification?”
Yesterday, Lim, who is Kepong MP, had raised concerns over the contract as the cost appeared to be too high just to replace 200 lamp posts.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday, SCIB said the contract was for project engineering services for the replacement of the lamp posts.
