Putin lets Belarus control new super-fast missile system coming next year

Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko met in Minsk to sign a new defense deal: the agreement opens way for placing super-fast missiles in Belarus. The meeting (which happened just yesterday) showed how close these countries work together

Russia wants to put its new Oreshnik missiles — that fly faster than sound — on Belarus ground by mid-25. These weapons first showed up in action last month when Russia hit Dnipro city; it was done cause Ukraine used Western-made missiles to strike Russian spots

The missile system has some cool features: it can hit many places at once and its really hard to stop it in the air. Putin says its as strong as nuclear bombs even without nuclear stuff inside but some smart people in the West dont fully buy these claims

  • Belarus will pick where missiles point
  • Both leaders must ok any nuclear weapon use
  • New deal makes both countries share defense stuff
  • Missiles will come when Russia makes more of them

Belarus — which sits next to NATO countries like Poland Latvia and Lithuania — already got some nuclear missiles from Russia about a year ago. Their friendship got stronger since the old Soviet times when Belarus had its own nuclear things (but gave them up like 30 years back)

since we have today signed an agreement on security guarantees using all available forces and means I consider the deployment of such systems as the Oreshkin on the territory of the Republic of Belarus to be feasible
