Trans Woman Meets Senators Hontiveros, Marcos, Go At Senate Office
TRANS WOMAN – The trans woman, Gretchen Custodio Diez meet senator Bong Go, Imee Marcos, and Risa Hontiveros at the Senate Office.
Following a previous article, a transgender woman named Gretchen Custodio Diez was allegedly harassed at the ladies toilet in a mall in Quezon City last August 13. She was handcuffed and brought to the police station for insisting to use the women’s CR.
Vice Ganda, Risa Hontiveros, and Catriona Gray are among the people that call for the implementation of the “Anti-discrimination” bill. The author Sen. Hontiveros refilled the bill last July.
The incident brought a spotlight to the need for SOGIE law (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression). The bill seeks to protect the LGBT (Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) community from stereotypes.
Based on a report from GMA News, Gretchen Diez visits senators Imee Marcos, Bong Go, Manny Pacquiao, Bato Dela Rosa, Pia Cayetano, and Miguel Zubiri at the session hall today. She posed for photos with some of the senators.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros gave a speech pressing for the need to have the “Anti-Discrimination law in the Philippines.
“Panahon na para sabihin na hindi tayo papayag na may LGBTQI na poposasan, sasampalin, aalipustahin dahil sa kanilang kasarian. It is time that we say we will stand by those who speak their truths.”
“Matagal na tayong pinapagpasensyahan ng mga LGBTQI na mga anak, kapatid, kaibigan at kababayan natin dahil sa ating pagkukulang,” she added.
Senators Marcos and Go took to the social media to express their support for the approval of the SOGIE bill.
