Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, September 30, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.5 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Following the 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Davao Occidental has a magnitude of 3.5.

The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 07:55 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Jose Abad Santos.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.38°North, 126.64°East – 125 km South 62° East of Jose Abad Santos. It had a depth of focus of 034 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there might be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No intrumental intensity was recorded as well.
