It’s good news for gym bunnies as there are increasing signs that the capital’s gyms and sporting activities could soon resume.

Most of us have been hard at it keeping to our regular workouts during lockdown, albeit virtually.
You have to admit, though, there’s nothing like packing your sports bag and heading to the gym to workout with like-minded people.
With news in over the past couple days that Abu Dhabi Sports Council has provided health and safety guidelines for gyms and organisations who run sporting activities, you could be ‘reaching one, two, three, four…’ down at you local gym sooner than you think.

The council’s guidelines are aimed at facilities, trainers, regulators, staff, players and participants, as well as the physical space of where sporting activities take place.
The process includes facilities having to log on and submit details to the sporting council.
So, what’s in the guidlines?
Venue capacity has to be no more than 30% and there must be strict social distancing measures in place too.
Gym goers and those participating in sporting activities are required to wear gloves at all times.
Temperature testing aparatus will also be in place for those entering a sporting facility. Staff will also be tested on a daily basis and will be required to wear protective clothing.
All venues are also required to have quarantine or medical isolation areas for suspected COVID-19 cases.
Venues are asked to complete the guidelines and submit it to Abu Dhabi Sports Council, who will then review on a case-by-case basis.
Until gyms do open, Abu Dhabi World recently ran a piece on virtual activites that keep the entire familiy fit and healthy. So, put on your sporting gear and take a look here.
