Pakistani security forces raided two militant hideouts in areas close to the Afghan border during the Eid holidays, sparking heavy gun battles that left six militants dead.

According to a military statement, the two raids were carried out early on Friday in the districts of Tank and North Waziristan in response to reliable intelligence reports of militant infiltration and concealment in the regions close to the Afghan border.

Security personnel also sized guns and ammunition from the hideouts and were clearing the area, the military wing reported late Friday.

The military did not identify the fatalities, but most terrorists are associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Since the Taliban seized control of power in Afghanistan, the TTP group has increased their attacks on Pakistani personnel and officers.

The group aimed to target Pakistani officers, foreign and ordinary people across the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and Panjab.

In recent years, Pakistan’s military has conducted significant operations in the tribal region along the Afghan border, which served as a safe haven for domestic and foreign extremists for decades.

The area is still insecure, and extremist groups use it as their hideouts and attack the Pakistani forces.
